Hi Everyone,

A friend and I are travelling to Thailand arriving in Koh Samet on the 30th of December and planning to stay there until about the 5th of Jan. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay for the budget conscious? We would like to book in advance to ensure we aren't stuck on the beach - I have seen a place on the internet called Saikaew Villas and was wondering if anyone has any knowledge of this place. I've heard many a story of people booking and paying for places then being kicked out or told the booking doesn't exist! Any advice would be much appreciated :)

Thanks
Bella

I always stay here, very nice. Not budget, though, about 2000 baht/night.

On budget? If you want budget in samet, then just show up and start shopping for a place to stay. Go visit a bunch of places and make your choice. Prices change there practically everyday. Make a bargain since you're staying multiple nights. Don't sweat it, unless you arrive in the evening/night. But there is always a room some place there.
