Asia - Dali to Lijiang transportation

Does anyone have any advice on transportation between Dali and Lijiang, China? I'd prefer not to be in a run-down bus with 50 other people, if possible.

Suggest you get your hotel to hire you a car and driver. Otherwise the bus is the only option. You could fly from Kunming direct to Lijiang which is what we decided to do and skipped going to Dali.

Lijiang is lovely though and worth the trip. From there we went up to Zhongdian and then flew back to Kunming.

The bus we had between Dali and Lijiang was very nice, much better than any public bus I've had in the US. Quick, on-time and even a couple of free gifts.
