Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - When to book reward tickets to USA
I know I'm a little bit early on it.
I'm looking forward to book a reward ticket in F to California at August 05
for two persons.
Have anybody some experience when I have to book such a reward ticket?
Think it is a big problem to get such flight for August / September.
Thanks for answer

my advice: book ASAP! I tried to book a trip for 4 in August (in F, too; NUE-BOS / SFO-NUE). NUE-BOS was no prob - SFO-NUE seems to result in a big problem (at least with my dates).
don't wait too long to be on the safe side.
cheers,
ben
Pardon what do you mean with ASAP ?
Ok I'm flexible with the dates and it doesn't matter if SFO or LAX
but 9 month before booking is a little bit difficult, often meetings
destroy such a long planning.

I had good luck with booking awards to the US 4-6 days before the flight. Oftentimes O class opens up again 1 week before the flight. If you are flexible and there isnt any availability three months before the flight it might prove successful to just wait and not panic. LH has been very generous with F awards so far. Not a single trip I planned has been cancelled or postponed for more than 1-2 days and most of the times I need 2 or 4 seats. I even got FRA-CPT last year for New Years Eve when booking after Xmas.

You're most welcome. :)
booked 2 X F to DEN for 19 july - 02 august 2005, in the last week of july. Called in fact every day so be sure I had first choice when they opened up inventory.
I was warned : for some popular destinations you really have to book very early.

I've experienced not getting award tickets MUC-ORD in July, even 7 months in advance. So depending on destination and time of the year I'd recommend early booking.
