Not a widely publicized fact but if, like me, you have a stack of CP upgrade certificates that expire Feb/2001, CP will redeem them from you and credit your account 2,500 miles.

I picked up an easy 25,000 miles this way.

Can you please be more specific. Is it 2.5K for every 500-mile sticker, or for every System-wide sticker? But given these "old" stickers are still eligible for use with any fare, including those the current ones are not, why would you want to trade them in unless you never fly on a deeply discounted ticket? Or are you refering to current year stickers which have less value than the old ones?

I still think three upgrades from a $300 YYZ-YVR return fare (which is what the old annual initial packs contained) are worth a lot more to me than another 25K which translates into an economy ticket which can generally be bought for $300 to $800 maximum (and then upgraded with those same old stickers).

For Initial Upgrade ceritifcates, system-wide and Ultimate Upgrade. But given these "old" stickers are still eligible for use with any fare, including those the current ones are not, why would you want to trade them in unless you never fly on a deeply discounted ticket?
I either travel deeply-discounted or business class so my case may be a bit different.

I agree with you.
