Help fellow FTer's... I've got a business trip on 12/19 through 12/21 that I've got to make it to. I have two options same price...

1. Book my trip US Air

2. Book my trip United

Both are the same flights (operated by united RDU to ORD and ORD to RDU), however I'll get the miles if I book US Air. I'll get miles with United too, but they really won't help me get much of anywhere... Is flying US Air a safe bet or is there a good possibility that they'll go belly up before my trip?

Thanks,
Excel

US has enough cash to get through Dec and Jan so your okay. But it looks like either way you book it. Your going to be on a UA flight. At least if you book US you will help support them to survive. And I am keeping my fingers crossed like many on here that they will be around much longer than that. But to answer your question no one truly has a crystal ball on this forum. No one really knows the exact answer. But the odds are really good that they will still be here even through Jan.

With their joint marketing arrangement, you can credit miles to your USAir DM account even with a ticket on United, and vice-versa. Just ask the UA agent to enter your DM account number on the ticket.

Book on UA and use your US DM account number for credit. In the long-shot that US goes belly up before the flight, just switch to the UA number.

This makes the whole "will US liquidate" question moot, although it's always nice to see it discussed aaagggaaaiiinnnn.....

PLEASE book your flight on US Airways. In these difficult times, US Airways needs the support of its customers. Remember: US Airways begins with U.

If you read terms and conditions you will understand it's a codeshare - so really it's a UAL flight - but you can get your DM account placed on.

Financially, the payments goes to the operating carrier - it's reallly a marketing agreement so that there is a greater chance of exposure to the public. Like people that only shop at UAL will book a flight because it's from United website - but can be operated by US.

I've been flying to Rome one a month for the past 6 months and probably the next 6 months and most the flights have been the US Airways (because I prefer landing at FCO at 8AM monday then losing my whole weekend) - but I've been a UAL MP member for a while so I always use my MP # to get my EQM and miles.
