Canadian Airlines Plus - Heard anything on upgrade changes yet?

Have anyone heard anything on upgrade changes yet? AC have changed their upgrade policies so that new stickers can be used on day of travel from anyfare (This was suppose to be a no brainer move, yet they took so long), I wonder whether CP is going to change it since they always say we want to streamline with AC's FF program blah blah....

I'll try to call EP desk and find out if I have time later or someone can call CP and ask if they have time.

Since AC and CP have just announced full reciprocal upgrades effective April 3rd, I would expect the "day-of upgrading on any fare" change will be honoured by both carriers. (By the way, AC uses coupons not stickers for their upgrades.) And thanks for going to the G&M with your story. I suspect that, and Fisch's earlier letter to AC, helped move this sensible decision along. Now we Cdn+ have to fight for equality in the credit received for upgraded flights, since Aeroplan members get that 25% bonus and Cdn+ members don't.

Thanks to everyone - I've enjoyed reading information and comments by members and have the following to contribute.

I was told today by Cdn staff that standby upgrades were to be allowed on AC flights begining March 21st. However, I wasn't aware (or told) of the new policy begining April, so I'm not sure how reliable this info is. It appears that many front line Cdn staff aren't provided with much more info than appears to be available on this site and in some cases less. Moreover things are changing so rapidly its hard for everyone to keep on top of everything.

One other issue that I am particularly sad about is that it seems that AC will stop all CP flights from YYZ to LHR (one of CP's major international routes). I think this will be as early as April but certainly by May. Unless the new upgrade policy will include EP members being able to upgrade at time of booking this will put us at a significant disadvantage compared to aeroplan members.

Now, the next 2 things on the agenda....

i) either change the qualification levels for EP back to 85K or give us 125% bonus for R class.

ii) I always thought why did CP not have this, award sale for high tier member.

The upgrade change really surprises me. I never thought they were willing to "sort of" admit that they made the wrong change and changed it back..... Or is there some sort of catch to this?? We'll see...

Proudwings: This is AC's masterplan.. take all the profitable route and leave CP with all the crappy ones so make them look bad. Just look at the traffic report for Feb. They will defintely give AC's SE prority for upgrades before giving us "lowly CP ExecPlats" a chance.
