Does anyone know how this route is doing since US has picked it back up? I imagine that the loads for this will pick up over time and especially when they open FLL as an international gateway to the Caribbean.
I know when I flew from FLL to DCA a few weeks back and I looked at the LGA gate. The load looked really light. But that was just a few days after the service was reinstated.
I hope many of the routes that they have begun (again) to go to FLL will do well.

Well some good news. When I flew from LGA DCA FLL yesterday. When I landed I went over to the LGA gate and it was packed. I asked the gate agent how the LGA route was doing. She said for a Tuesday it was excellent. She said lately Fri, Sat and Sun have been sold out many times with the exception of some of the early morning flights but she said the loads were excellent with maybe 2 or 3 seats empty. She said that people are flying US. She said that of course most of these people are probably flying on cheap fares. But she said the route is doing excellent as far as the loads go.
She said normally Mon, Tues and Weds are the slowest and then Thurs it starts to pick back up again. But she said that is pretty normal. And she went on to tell me that even on the slower week days the loads are still pretty good.

Tues. 2/1, I went FLL-LGA and it was about 100. (On a 321 that holds 169)

Are you sure that it was an A321? Yesterday US operated 3 A319s and 1 733 on the route according both to Usair.com and the *A timetable. 100 people on an A319 is not a bad number at all which hold 120 people.

I've been a regular on this route (2-3 legs per month) since the startup in November and almost every flight has been packed near 100%. That being said, I generally avoid the first and last flights of the day, but do sometimes go on weekends. The question remains: "Are they charging high enough fares to make money on these types of routes?" I know that my fares have been relatively cheap even when bought only a few days out.
