US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Online Upgrades

Is it just me or has the ability to request/do upgrades online disappeared? I used to be able request upgrades by logging into my upcoming trips and selecting a request to upgrade there even if I was outside my window. Virtually There would then show that I was waitlisted for F. Additionally, if I log into my DM account and try to upgrade with miles, I'm told that none of my upcoming trips (have 6 in place) are eligible for upgrades.

I just double checked and it appears to be working for me. Make sure you select "Existing Reservations" and not "Itinerary/Receipt" from the front page. Virtually There will not show that you are waitlisted for F until you are within your window, even if the upgrade has been requested. Of course, the majority of US FTers seem to prefer calling and speaking to an agent to ensure that the upgrade is properly requested as the online interface can be finicky at best.
My most recent issue is that the website keeps telling me that an upgrade has not been requested (and lets me request it again) although I had initially requested the upgrade online and confirmed the request with an agent.

Tried to online request upgrades for:
11/22/2004
MCO - CLT - IND
US 116 320p
US 1148 550p
usairways.com wouldn't allow me to do that. When I click on my existing reservation it would give me an error:
1. I go tot he main webpage: www.usairways.com and enter my frequent flyer number and pin number.
2. I then click on Apply Upgrades
3. Then I login with my userid and password for my profile
4. This screen comes up: INDIANAPOLIS, IN (IND) November 20 CSNNCJ
5. I click on select.
6. Screen I get:
The date you have entered is too far in advance to show availability.
Please use the Okay button to resubmit using different dates. Return to Previous Page
There is no Okay button only a link for Help
7. If I Click on Help
(javascript:openPopWin('http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/help/glblwhere.htm', 366, 550, 'scrollbars,resizable', -8, 1)
We're Sorry

I just got off the phone with a 'web site support' person. He was totally clueless as to what I was speaking about. I came away feeling that I had interrupted his nap and he was a bit dis-oriented. He kept telling that I couldn't do online upgrades from MAN when I was traveling from MHT.
Does anyone have the names and email addresses of the website folks that were at Roach Fest? If someone could email them to me, it would be appreciated.

I've had the same experience. Three potential causes, and their solution:
(1) You are requesting an upgrade too far in advance; US Air wants to wait to see if there will be paying passengers in first.
(2) You may (as I certainly do) not have a sufficiently high status to be allowed to upgrade early, and may have to wait until closer to flight date to get a chance to upgrade.
(3) The website is balky, generating "busy" error messages, and you may need to resubmit your request.
All three happened to me for my most recent flight. I tried to request an upgrade too far in advance, and got a upgrade forbidden message. I waited until the night before, and was able to process my upgrade request. Even then, I had to "resubmit" the request twice, before it finally went through on the third try, after getting two error messages in a row.
Hope this helps.

If I read the OP correctly, none of these are legitimate excuses.
(1) You are requesting an upgrade too far in advance; US Air wants to wait to see if there will be paying passengers in first.
1. There is no such thing (or at least, there never has been before) as "requesting an upgrade too far in advance". If I, as a GP, request an upgrade online, it will tell me that "upgrades have been requested", but it will not confirm said upgrade until 3 days before the flight. At that point, Virtually There usually tells me that I am waitlisted. Lately, I have not had an upgrade clear before the day of the flight.
(2) You may (as I certainly do) not have a sufficiently high status to be allowed to upgrade early, and may have to wait until closer to flight date to get a chance to upgrade.
2. The original poster is CP. If he can't upgrade online, no one can.
(3) The website is balky, generating "busy" error messages, and you may need to resubmit your request.
3. If the website has problems, they should hire a compugeek to fix them.

Note to USAir: they have yet to build the computer that I can't make sit up and beg. :)

I'm flying my first non-award flight with a first class section on US (sad but true) in a couple of weeks. Was able to request upgrades online for all the flights I wanted to upgrade as soon as they were ticketed and I am Silver Preferred. As expected, the upgrades haven't cleared but I guess I'll check back on the website 1 day in advance to see if they do.

Why do you need upgrade when you fly frist class?
I fly firstclass from LAX to St.Thomas January.
Do I need to request some kind of upgrade? Just wondering it.
I don't have any elite status.

You misunderstand me. I fly coach, and usually on planes with no first class (RJs) so hence no chance to upgrade to first even if I wanted to. These are my first flights this year where I can upgrade, so I am trying to upgrade.
If you are booked in first class ,there is no where better for you to upgrade to (maybe ask the pilot for that elusive cockpit upgrade LOL), so enjoy your flight.

My bad.
Do you use mileage to get upgrade? Or your elite status help you get free upgrade? How can you confirm upgrade before the departure date?
Thanks.
