I bought a ticket on Expedia.com and chose my seat assignment. On one of the flights, the seat assignment didn't go through. It says "seat assignment upon check-in". The flight isn't full and it isn't until the end of December; every so often a seat assignment just doesn't stick.
I called the USAirways automated number and went through the process of identifying myself and the flight. The system asked me if I wanted window or aisle (chose window), bulkhead or non-bulkhead (chose non-bulkhead), and then that I have been assigned seat 17A.
This flight is an ERJ, and as most of you are aware, port has one seat, and starboard has two seats. I sit starboard on these planes because the one-seat side has less underseat stowage, which I need for my laptop.
On the phone, I selected "agent", and after waiting on hold for about five minutes, I asked for a starboard seat and was given 6F.
On a related note, why is there a five minute queue at 11 PM?
Anyway, it sounds very minor, but it would be nice if the automated seat assignment system would ask you if you want port or starboard, and if I could add another wish to the list, ask if you want fore, aft, or over wing. :)
