NOLA Flyer Nov 15, 04, 11:35 am iGO air adapter. Can even get it from Radio Shack. I have a Dell 5150, does anyone know of an adaptor that works with it? RDU-DL&SPG Nov 15, 04, 12:43 pm Irish...NOLA's got it right...the iGO adapter is a wonderful thing. Not only will it allow you to use Empower in the air, but works with cig lighter sockets as well. And a less advertised feature is that the adapter also has a connector that will allow you to buy a cable that will allow you to juice up your cell phone, PDA, iPOD, etc. as well...so for travelling, just need to bring the iGO with you and you can re-charge all your gear. In addition to the shack, can also pick 'em up in major airports or order direct from www.igo.com. NOLA Flyer Nov 15, 04, 1:16 pm I bought an iGO for my trip MSY-HNL trip last June. It was nice to have power for my laptop during the LAX-HNL and HNL-SFO segments! :) I picked mine up for $50 on ebay! :D You can also get an adapter to power up your cellphone while charging your laptop! I have yet to get one, though (it's like $14.95). woody125 Nov 15, 04, 10:55 pm I have a Dell 5150 also which, from my experience, is the only laptop made by Dell that will not fit ANY power adapter for Empower. I've bought 3 (one at Radio Shack, one on board from Duty Free, and one in at Frankfurt Main), tried them all, and then had to return them. As I look at igo.com, I see every Dell model listed save my 5150. If you find one that works, PLEASE PM me and let me know. I'd love to get this behind me. I'm about to have to buy a second battery. Not the worst option but surely there is an adapter our there somewhere that works! Dell does sell a specific, Aircrat only adapter, but I prefer the all in one. So instead I bought a 40$ power inverter and use my regular power adapter behind it. IRISHFLYER1, I am moving this thread to the Travel Technology board which is a more appropriate home for it. In addition, I am confident that our in-house techies over there will be of assistance. Rssrsvp - Moderator No problem AA_SPG_Fan Nov 16, 04, 9:01 am I have a Dell 5100 -- and its been a scourge because there is no air adapter either. The 5100 takes 90w of power and the aircraft only delivers 75w. I bought an APC adapter that has the cig attachment (for use on AA) and tried it out earlier in the year and the results were not very good. The computer would come on and off, the screen would go out, etc. I think that I could use it only in battery mode and then recharge it once the battery got spent - but, it seemed like more work than it was worth and gave up on it and the trouble -- ended up with a valium, some wine and a solid sleep for 10 hours instead. I wished I had researched the 5100 before because of this. |
