I just got Lotus Notes 6.5 on my work machine and I really want to rearrange the column headings in the mail view. Is there any way to do this like in Outlook?

I've been a notes victim for 5 years now. :( 6.5 sucks slightly less than previous versions. Sean prncess674 Nov 12, 04, 5:05 pm Thank You!!!! The default view that the technology guys had set up was driving me nuts! lili Nov 12, 04, 8:38 pm Oh yeah, my condolences. We're currently using both Notes email and Office/Outlook and everybody has to check everything everyday an email iy back and forth. It's stupid. It's corporate. It's our local resistance to corporate. It's also a cost factor with MS licenses. Dugernaut Nov 12, 04, 8:46 pm Oh yeah, my condolences. Sean Great, my division is switching to Notes as per Corporate by the end of the year. :td: :( Craig6z Nov 13, 04, 8:50 am My company is still using Notes 5, and is not scheduled to moved to a version of 6 until the second half of next year. It is such a waste of human and server energy to run Notes 5 as a mail client, but welcome to the world of massive companies (and IBM is a large client of our's). skofarrell Nov 13, 04, 9:51 am Biggest benefit of 6.5 so far is that when it crashes, you don't have to reboot your machine in order to run it again. ^ ^ Craig6z Nov 13, 04, 10:00 am Biggest benefit of 6.5 so far is that when it crashes, you don't have to reboot your machine in order to run it again. ^ ^ At least with 5, when it crashes, I run a small utility accessible via my Windows desktop called Killnotes. It nukes open Notes dll's. Pretty much foolproof. http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/sandbox.nsf/ecc552f1ab6e46e4852568a90055c4cd/7b70d2411b8dec9688256acb005c433f?OpenDocument BTW, the IBM site above indicates that the utility runs on Win NT/95/98. While I haven't tried it with XP, it runs fine on Win2000 Pro. DI542 Nov 17, 04, 3:44 am I have used both Notes and Outlook (Exchange). A few things I have noticed since moving to a company with Notes: 1. Although Notes seems a bit clunky my experience is that it is at least as robust as Outlook. I've lost count of the number of times Outlook has hung whilst trying to synchronize new messages. Notes just seems to hang in there and be pretty well behaved. 2. I don't know whether you've ever tried to create workflow apps on Outlook - it aint easy. Notes wins hands down. 3. Tried creating a meeting request in Outlook that spans time zones? Sure, it calculates the differences ok but with Notes you can actually set the time zone in the appointment/meeting form. Makes it much easier when you are flying across time zones and want to set start & finish times correctly. 4. Full text indexing is cool in Notes |
