Is American the only airline that allows the use of miles to pay for car rentals?
I have orphan miles with United, Delta and Continental and was hoping to use some for a rent car in Phoenix next March.
Thank you

Thanks for the information, the others do not permit you to do this.
However, if you have any HHonors points, and wish to use them for this, you can. HHonors has many rewards involving car rental companies. Many of them are not that great, but the 1 week rewards for either Alamo or Thrifty are not that bad. I am spending 70,000 points for a 1 week mid-size in Hawaii over Christmas which would have run me about $500.
Had I booked sooner, I probably would have gotten a better rate, but I was late in booking, so these HHonors rewards can be of good use when the rental prices are quite high.
By the way, PLN or Hotwire are not really option, as I wish to use my Diners Club card, and the entire rental must be on that card, and obviously, it is not because of the payment to the above 3rd parties.
