Hi All,

Short time poster, long time lurker here.

I am hoping someone can answer a question for me.

The family is traveling to Europe and plan on bringing the laptop to entertain the child…..ok and me too!

I hope to use my inverter in our rental automobile to power my Dell XPS. Does anyone know if the “standard” lighter/cell phone charging port on European automobiles are 12-volt and compatible with a US made inverter?

Any help is appreciated!

Well, all of my European cars have had lighters that are 12-volt. I don't see why they'd do something different for the European market.

As long as you are not in an old Skoda or something that was 6 Volt, no problem.

If you are renting from Hertz, avis or the like, not a problem.
