I am currently booked March 26, 2005, Bangkok to Beijing. Have RT CX tickets PHX/Beijing/PHX (don't ask-it's a long story-SARS and cancellations.) I am spending 2 weeks pre-cruise touring China. Must get from Beijing to BKK, best way, cheapest way.

However, another cruise just popped up which spends more time in Vietnam (which is someplace I really want to see-being of "that" generation). However, that cruise leaves from Hong Kong and ends in Singapore. Still need to get back to Beijing to fly home. Air China has the cheapest flights and great schedules. However, I went to their website and you cannot book online. I called their office and they informed me I had to go to their office in LA or San Franciso to buy the tickets. That would be a problem. Hope this isn't too convoluted-here are the questions.

1. Cruise 1-my double entry visa will need three entries-flight from US to Beijing, ship stops in Shanghai, and disembarks in Beijing. How much trouble will this be? Should I notify the cruise line, the embassy or who???

2. Cruise 1-best way to get from China to BKK. Itinerary in China-arrive Beijing-3 days (could be shortened to 2-not really that interested in Beijing), Xian-2 days, Chengdu-2 days, Llhasa-2 days, Chongqing-Wuhan-Yangtze River Cruise-4 days, that leaves 2 days to get to BKK. Do I fly from Wuhan to someplace, fly back to Beijing and onward to BKK, take the train to Hong Kong, or ???? Give me some suggestions. I just want to get to Bangkok in enough time to spend ONE luxurious night in the Peninsula Hotel.

3. Cruise 2-will keep same itinerary in China. Need to get to Hong Kong from Wuhan. Best way.

4. Cruise 2-need to get back to Beijing from Singapore to fly home. Best way, cheapest way.

Everyone helped so much when I made the mileage run to Tokyo, I figured this was the best place to ask. Thanks in advance for the answers.

1. You will NEED to contact the Embassy to grant you additional entry into/ out of China.

2, 3. Dragon air (A Hong Kong based airlines partly own by Cathay, although only in a small amount of share) has reliable and nicest service out of mainland China into Hong Kong, then you can connect to Cathay, Thai, Orient Thai , Gulf Air etc into Bangkok.

Please note that Dragon Air only has flights on certain dates of the week from WUH into Hong Kong though:

Dragon Air http://www.dragonair.com
Flight Departure Arrival Day of Service Aircraft
KA851 WUH 13:30 HKG 15:20 Thursday 32P
KA851 WUH 18:45 HKG 20:35 Sunday, Wednesday, Friday 32P

China Southern Airlines is another choice http://www.cs-air.com/en/

4. Singapore to Beijing: Singapore Airlines http://www.singaporeair.com has several non-stop flights per day, so should not be a problem.
