My laptop battery is beginning to show signs of diminishing performance less than 2 hours of DVD watching or 3 hours of reduced-brightness text work). In anticipation of buying a replacement battery ion a few months, I have been looking at OEM battery makers (since a new Sony battery lists for $299)

Does anyone have good experiences with an OEM battery source (company and/or website)? Thanks!

Truthfully, I just go to ebay or pricewatch. I bought an extra battery for my Dell and it works fine.

Ebay. I buy the highest capacity ones I can find for the lowest amount of money for laptops, cells, etc, and never had a problem. Make sure they are new, and not used ones.

I think you may have wanted to use the term aftermarket rather than OEM.

I recently had to buy a new battery for a HP laptop. I used Froogle to search prices and ended up at buy.com (combination of price and features). A week or two after my order they had rasied the price about $15 and ended a discount coupon, so YMMV.

I used Kahlon for my Thinkpad and VAIO and they worked just as well as the OEM ones.

I agree eBay is often a good place to find deals on new batteries.

pay attention to your freight charges on ebay. I'll also PM you a guy not to buy from.

AFTER TWO WEEKS OF NOT SHIPPING HE SENT A CHARGER!

he knew the paypal rules, because he shipped me somnehting, paypal would not issue refund. Amex did. then after four weeks, this week, I got an email from him (apparantly paypall got on his butt) and he asked why I wasn't happy!

I second KAHLON. Their price was among the lowest for a Dell replacement battery and the product appeared identical in every respect (including the Dell logo) with one notable exception: IT WAS BETTER (more time off one charge).

You can also shop ebay but you take your chances as you might end up with a used or knockoff battery.

I had good luck buying an APC battery for my toshiba. Their battery was actually BETTER than the OEM.

I also had great luck getting a new battery for my dell laptop on ebay for about $70. Just make sure to buy from a dealer with lots of good feedback and make sure that it is a new, not used or refurbished battery.
