Las Vegas - Drive Las Vegas to Phoenix - how long?

Am planning my fly drive to the US for next summer. I thought about driving to Phoenix from Vegas to fly back to the UK instead of driving back to LA. Does anyone know the length of this drive & is it a nice one?

My sister and brother-in-law used to this drive for a quick, weekday getaway. It takes about 5 hours, and, from what they said, it's a very boring, desolate drive.

I have done both drives, and would rather fly! :) If you haven't seen the Hoover Dam before it's worth the drive to PHX to see that, as it's on the way just outside of Vegas, but don't expect a whole lot after that.

Southwest (WN) and America West (HP) serve this route with high frequency and you should be able to get a cheap ticket if you don't want to drive it. Even a last minute shouldn't be more than US$100.

America West is offering one-way fares LAS-PHX for $59 all-in. I used some random June dates.

Make sure you stop for a date shake in Dateland. Mmmmmmmm :)
