For a given bid, the total charges all seem to come out to $1 more than before, as of today. Was this the purpose of combining the fee with the taxes, so they could raise the fee quietly?

Non-NonRev Nov 2, 04, 10:25 am The other purpose was that, if you llooked up the tax rate in the city where your hotel is located, it was quite easy to calculate how much PL was paying the hotel for your room. raydon22 Nov 3, 04, 3:30 pm For a given bid, the total charges all seem to come out to $1 more than before, as of today. Was this the purpose of combining the fee with the taxes, so they could raise the fee quietly? This seemed to have occured some time last month, between 10/24 and 10/27 ... on the 24th a $42 bid added $13.75 tax/fee, on the 27th a $42 bid added $14.75 tax/fee, for the same hotel. GUWonder Nov 3, 04, 4:38 pm What's the estimated Priceline fee now? Tenacious Nov 3, 04, 4:48 pm I haven't seen any bonus money in a while either. raydon22 Nov 4, 04, 1:31 am What's the estimated Priceline fee now? It seems the fee varies with location and (for hotels) star rating. My experience: for hotels, $6.50 for a Los Angeles 3*, $7 for a Honolulu 3*, $7.50 for a Bangkok 4*, and $5 for a San Diego 2.5*; for rental cars, I calculated $4 at LAX and $6 at HNL. I've never bid for air travel, so I have no idea there. GUWonder Nov 4, 04, 6:29 am Raydon, thanks for the info. I haven't seen any bonus money in a while either. Well, there is the eBay-link for eBay Anything Points which amounts to "getting back" up to $15.00 of eBay-specific currency. It's not bonus money, but it amounts to something like a rebate of sorts. Priceline still imposes a set service charge ($6.95 per ticket) for all airfare purchases. |
