Doing a search brings up comments on this hotel only in conjunction with other topics. Any SPECIFICS, specifically for HH Gold.

What can I expect as a gold, what should I ask for, best rooms, etc., greatly appreciated (one night stay, 10/29/04).

I know the area well, usually staying across the street at the Westin Embassy Row, but the rate this time at the Hilton is far better.

I stayed in August and the room I had was right above the front door. It was about the size of a tennis court. :D

I just stayed at the Embassy Row Hilton back in August. In my key folder, I received a gold colored card describing the Gold HH benefits. They are:

Complimentary Welcome Beverage in our Lobby Lounge.

Complimentary Full Breakfast Buffet Daily.

Complimentary Upgrade to Executive Level that includes nightly turndown service, robes, slippers and bottled water.

Now I was traveling on business, so I had already booked the Exec Level and I don't think that they rolled the price back. I'm not positive however, since I didn't make the reservation. I also did not see any nightly turndown service. There was one robe, which was fine since I was in the room by myself, and one pair of slippers. I also did receive one bottle of water the first night and a chocolate, but none for the next two nights. Dinner in the resturant was ok, but not spectacular. One can have a better dinner on Dupont Circle in the Jury's Hotel's resturant for a comparable price.

On the other hand, the breakfast buffet was quite nice each day I was there. Additionally I was traveling with my client's in house computer manager, who had his own room but booked on the same reservation with mine. So the hotel also gave him the free drink coupon and the free breakfast buffet coupons. No robe, slippers, or water for him. But I though it was nice that they did at least comp him on the rest of the things.

One note about the free drink, you must use that coupon on the night of your arrival, as it is dated.

My biggest complaint with this hotel was the tiny 17 inch TV's. I don't think that I've seen a hotel lately with less than a 25" set.
