Sorry, I was so excited, I figured this merited a new thread.
According to http://www.flybmi.com/miles/dcsectiondetails.aspx?p=1027 updated this afternoon, you get 100% membership and destination miles for...
Air Canada y,b,e,g,h,j,k,m,q,r,t,u,v,n,o,s
Air New Zealand y,b,m,h,q,v,w,t
All Nippon y,b,s,m,k,l,w,g,h
Asiana u,y,e,b,m,h,q,v,s,k,w
Austrian y,b,m,h,q,v,w,s
Lufthansa y,b,m,h,q,v,w,s,g,k,l,t
Lauda y,b,m,h,q,v,w,s
Mexicana y,b,m,s,q,k,l,h,v,w
SAS y,b,g,h,k,m,q,v,w,s
Singapore s,y,b,m,t,h,k,e,u,w
Spanair b,m,h,q,l,t,w,s,g
Thai y,q,m,v,b,s,h,t,k,w
United y,b,h,k,l,m,q,r,s,t,v,w,z
Varig y,m,k,h,v,b,q,w
Together with a 38k threshold for gold, and 3xF 2xC bonus (ex-SQ/AC), surely this now makes bmi the easiest *A prog to get *G on... The legendary UA V-class mileage run returns!

Just means that none of us will fly transatlantic on BD metal.
What a fab business decision.

Sorry to start complicating this, but what happens when you book a V fare on United which states in the fare rules that no mileage plus miles can be accrued? UA have been useless at applying this in practice so it's probably academic, but it is an additional issue to watch out for.

Maybe I am missing something but that page implies that we will get status miles on Virgin, LOT and SAA.

But, in the same breath, that means that if we do fly BD transatlantic, we'll credit in a different FFP...

Right, so I put all my BD flights on my UA*G card and all my *A flights on my BD*G card. Perfectly sensible arrangement.
Another drink please, barman.

IIRC There is a page ont he new bmi website that states that you get miles for flying VS, LOT and SA. It omits the words about getting status miles. IME this means no status miles.
Pretty sure about this but cannot find you the right link as the bmi site is sooooo sloooow just now.

I am not in the position to answer your question. But what I found out is, that the 25% bonus for silver & gold DC members will apply to all flights – bmi, Star Alliance, South African Airways, Virgin Atlantic and LOT.

This is great news. However I am a bit suspicious.
I fly Manchester to Munich on LH every week.
Under the current system at 30 points a week I would get my BD gold in 11 weeks.
Under the new system (discount economy on LH = miles x 1.0) I will get it in 3 weeks.
Maybe it's just worked out well for me but this seems like a huge reduction.

And crediting to LH Miles & More you would be *Gold after 40 weeks (or 60 weeks with a German address, i.e. you wouldn't even make it to *Gold in a year)
[assuming 2.500 status miles per roundtrip and 100/150K to qualify]
What a joke, but good for you if it turns out that way.

I expect they will be fine - I have successfully earned full miles on such UA tickets posting to bmi lufty and Thai programmes

Happy to.
I currently am BD silver with 820 points.
I need 1200 points for Gold.
I do 30 points a week (LH economy = 15 each way) therefore 12.66 return flights before getting to 1200.
Under new scheme
820 x 40 (1 point = 40 miles=
= 32800
I need 38000 for gold (5200)
I do 1600 miles a week (LH economy = 800 miles each way) therefore 3.25 return flights before getting to 38000.
TJ
Edited to replace 800 miles with 1600

Good news indeed, and certainly worthy of its own thread!
All they need to do now is make sure whenever they refer to "miles" they refer to either destinations miles, or status miles, or both...

What about code shares?
I'll be flying in June IAD-DFW on UA metal but a BD flight number - booking code Q - as part of a BD transatlantic.
Do I get 50% miles as it's BD code and ticket or 100% becuase it's actually a UA flight?

I believe that it is normally done on the BD flight number. Would only be UA if a UA flight number. Bad luck. Will not even get an upograde as it is a UA operated flight !

You do need to be careful about the fare codes it doesn't mention, which get no points at all, e.g. deeply discounted SQ fares (G,X,N,Q,V) and some NZ domestic ones (L,G,S,K) for starters...
The new programme seems a bit like Air Canada's, in that for mile- and status-earning possibilities it's actually better for people who fly other *A airlines than it is for those who fly mostly on the 'home' airline.

No *A scheme that I know of gives credit for discount SQ fares, but at least we're not missing out on most other *A discount fares which the original mailer suggested... Except of course discount fares on bmi itself, but you can always credit these segments to UA or LH.

I am reliably told by an ex-UA person that its MP systems are unable to differentiate between the lower fare classes. Therefore, UA will always give credit for paid travel, even in the cheap V seats - you always get it in MP, so you should have no problem crediting it to DC.
