Sorry to bother you guys again.

I have pretty much finalised my itineary:

Arr 19 Dec (Sunday) 9:40pm

and my flight to BOS = 1:40pm on 20 Dec (Monday)

Should I stay near the Airport:

If yes which one?

1) Hilton
2) Embassy Suite?

or should I stay in town?

1) COnrad?
2) Double Tree?

If the rate is fine, I would stay at the Conrad downtown compared to the other properties, unless you want to do all the activities the resort style Hilton by the airport has to offer.

Given my limited time do you think I should venture out of the airport area?

The problem with the Embassy suite is that I heard it is located in an industrial area? Is it safe also not exactly a nice place for a holiday. But the good thing is that they give you free breakfast and also have a Coin Laundry

I second the Conrad. I think it is extremely convenient to the airport (ten minute shuttle ride, even at peak traffic). I used Super Shuttle and I think the cost was $12/each way.

I would also recommend the Mandarin for dinner, a brisk walk away or easy taxi. You will not be close enough to South Beach.

I have no experience with the Conrad, but if the rate doesn't work out for you there the airport Hilton is a nice property.

I'd go with the Hilton - its conveniant - they run their own shuttle - nice pool and pool area to enjoy Monday morning and decent view of Miami. Not worth the extra effort, time, and money to go into Downtown on a Sunday night/Monday morning.

So I should avoid the Embassy Suite?

The Embassy suite is just before on the road to the Hilton Airport. Have not stayed at the Embassy suite but the Airport Hilton is pretty nice with pool, etc. and good service. If you don't have a car and plan to use the free hotel shuttle from the airport, you are essentially restricted to the Hilton property since they are near a bunch of office buildings and not much else.

Another alternative is the Hampton Inn and Suite around the corner from the Hilton Airport if cost is more of an issue and you don't have status. Some rooms have kitchenettes and rooms can often be had for around $100 and provide you with a full breakfast and the people are very nice and provide free shuttle to the airport. The advantage is that it is near small strip mall with some shops with a pharmacy, a roast chicken place, Wendy and a couple of small restaurant if you need to stock up on a few things.

If you stay downtown, count on 30 mins for taxi back to the airpot since traffic can be unpredictible on Monday and slightly more if shuttling. Considering you have only 15-16 hours in Miami, unless you are a night owl or early riser, staying downtown may not be worth it.
