I will be going to Atlanta for a week over Thanksgiving and have made a total of seven pointstretcher award-reservations alternating between wife and myself for the Embassy Suites Perimeter (at 15K points a night). Total comes to 105K points for all nights.

After doing so I just found our I can buy these nights at the hotel at 80.10$ non-refundable or 89$ fully refundable. Based on the fully-refundable rate I get about .65ct per point out of it - probably not the best ratio.

So I am open to suggestions - would you rather pay the rates mentioned, or use the award as I have currently booked...or even a combination of both?

Greetings - Dirk

It works out somewhat better when you tack on a 12% room tax. ^ The other beautiful thing about points is that they are substituted for after-tax dollars. ^ Of course, you have to net all of this against the points that you won't receive by staying free. :( Then again, a point balance doesn't earn interest...

Dirk,

if you want Hilton, stay put with the ES, but the area is famous for cheap hotels.I used to stay at the Hyatt Perimeter Suites at $ 65, now it goes for $ 69.50 from Thursday til Sunday.

I actually stayed twice at the Hawthorn Suites around the corner. They have a coupon in the Roomsaver book for $ 79 on weekdays and $ 52 on weekends and have a free nights promo going on right now.Per stay you get a free night !! Cheapest rate on the web should be $ 59.

We are talking about the equivalent of a Homewood Suites, but with a full kitchen.
Hot breakfast and evening reception, beautiful location with balconies facing a creek at one side of the hotel.
