As of yesterday - my bags made it from the plane to the belt in the usual PHL manner - sloooow! Don't know who did the job but I assume it was US workers. My question is: if the baggage handlers at PHL staged a work slowdown, how would you know?

Philadelphia has been known forever for having terrible baggage problmes.

the slow delivery of bags to the belt was covered on the local news. although the reporter guessed it was a labor slowdown, he lacked any facts to substantiate the claim.

It has been like this for years. The new A terminal was to be the most state of art system in the country. Now you get through customs faster only to wait longer for your bags. Ugggg!

At least if PHL is your final destination you don't misconnect like others continuing on.... I've waited for bags in A forever, but at least I knew I was going home while others were heading to a hotel for the night.

A friend is flying from PHL-MCO tonight. She said they had to wait for the plane at their gate to leave (it left late) before their plane could get to the gate. This is what the website says about her flight:

Comments: This flight is estimated to arrive in Orlando Intl, FL at 12:17am. The flight is operating behind schedule because of delays during baggage and cargo loading.

I just flew MCO-PHL tonight. Perferct weather conditions at both ends, yet my flight was delayed 1-1/2 hours upon landing in PHL due to the now-very-common gate availability issue. For some reason, there were also ATC delays in PHL tonight as well. Workers slowdown? Who knows? All I know is that there were a lot of unhappy customers -many with international connections- on that flight.

If slowdowns drive away customers, what good do they do...?

I connected in PHL yesterday, and my bag made it onto my connecting flight.

Overheard off-duty mainline FA on my express flight to ATL last night talking to on-duty express FA about this. She confirmed it was intentional.

Like most of you, I'm used to waiting 20-30 minutes for bags with US Airways in Philadelphia.

I've been flying Northwest twice a week into Philadelphia lately. Most times, the bags are coming out before I even get there. It's really nice.

my flight out of philly this morning (11:30) was delayed about 40 minutes because they had no one to load bags.

the clt flight at the next gate also 11:30 was still there when we left waiting for baggage loading
