US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - @*&$^*#@&^$ Lost two segments!

Was enroute from IAD to SFO last saturday when I was told by the US agent that my IAD-CLT segment was running 2 hours late and that I'd bust my CLT-SFO connection. He rebooked me on UA n/s IAD-SFO. While its nice to have the n/s, I lost two segments on the 2007 chairman's challenge - the two segments were needed to get me to the 20 required.
Any recourse here?
BTW, as a side note, because we were rebooked on UA, I lost my upgrade opportunity when he had to rebook in Y class on UA. To make matters more interesting, because we were essentially rebooked as a one way ticket, my 18-month old child got the SSSSSS on his boarding card. What a terrorist he is....If you're talking about poopie diapers.

Can't speak for US, but UA will happily credit you the original mileage and segments when they have to either fly you a different route on their own metal, or put you on another airline's metal due to mechanical or operational issues on their end.

Ditto for US. I've had this happen and--when it's their fault--they've always credited me the appropriate miles and segments. I'd call, not email, Dividend Miles. Try sounding less pissed off then your thread title but I'd also bring up the "no shot at F" issue to put them over the edge in your favor, if they're on the fence at all.

US will correct this, i had this happen with a flight cancellation , they just changed it to what i originally booked.

On an involuntary reroute, US has always given the original credit, if you asked. Technically, the UA flights you used might have been codeshare, so who knows, but ITRADE, you above all, should have little trouble talking them through that one. The fact that it's part of the challenge promote, and given the current traffic problems, I should think even triple B would look the other way on this.

Thanks for the info. I know that I've gotten original credit in the past for flights, but was not sure what the case would be now that US is fully tied in with UA and *.
On another note, one that shows that I've had my head buried in the sand for a long time. Are the US clubs now open to all * Gold (i.e., US1s and US2s) for all flights or just on international flights?

Just international

And International is considered Canada as well. I just got off the phone with a US Airways agent and she told me we can use the clubs for Canada too. However, the baggage allowance/limitations is still considered domestic.
Now isn't that just crazy.

Think you might have got a misinformed agent. From http://www.usairways.com/dividendmiles/star_launch.htm ...
Access to 575 Star Alliance Gold lounges. This includes access to US Airways Clubs and United Red Carpet ClubsŪ only when flying on an international* ticket.
* Excludes access when traveling solely within North America and to or from the Caribbean.
However, you do have access to Air Canada's lounges regardless of your itinerary (although this does not help in Toronto as US uses a different terminal than the other Star Carriers).

Cedric,
Thanks for the link. And hello by the way. Long time since I have seen you on here.
When I flew from Vancouver to Seattle on UA the other day I was able to use AC Maple Lounge. So is US exempt from *A when going to and from Canada? I would think that would be against the *A rules. I can understand if it is just the US. But if I can use AC lounge and I am not even flying them. That just does not seem fair. Tomorrow I am going to call the DMSC and find out what is going on. Maybe someone can explain this to me because that is just not right that US would be exempt from all of this.

Troy (hello),
In general, any Star alliance Gold member can use any Star alliance gold lounge on any Star alliance itinerary. UA decided that they could get away with not letting their own members use their own lounges on domestic itineraries as they do a good trade at lounge pass sales, so US followed suit when they joined Star. That is essentially the only restriction alliance-wide.
For instance, an AC, LH or SQ Gold member travelling entirely on a domestic US itinerary CAN use the US/UA lounges, it is only US/UA members that are exempt. The reason therefore that you were allowed into the AC lounge was because you were travelling on a Star Alliance itinerary and the AC lounges are not subject to the silly restrictions that US/UA have on their own members.
Finally, you are as a US/UA member entitled to use any lounge other than US/UA even when travelling soely on a domestic itinerary. So you could use the AC lounge at LAX, the LH lounges when they are open, etc.
You would therefore NOT be able to use, say the US DCA lounge on a DCA-YYZ ticket HOWEVER an air canada aeroplan gold member travelling on the same itinerary WOULD be able to use that lounge.
Hope that clarifies things.

My eyes just popped out of my head. I can't believe that. Man that is totally unfair. :(
Thanks Cedric for pointing that out. Appreciate it. I hope US reads this thread and makes a change to that policy.

I met up with some fine FTers for lunch and the subject of lounge membership came up. It seems that there is some law in the US that actually prevents american airlines from giving free access to their clubs. Does anyone have any further information about this?
