I don't know how valid this will be once PIT-FRA goes away November 1. I was on US894 last Thursday and missed my upgrade as a CP. I was #1 on the list 2 hours before departure, then somebody bought a seat. :eek: Full house in both classes. To be fair, I've never gone on Saturdays, so maybe that should be my new strategy? I'm going back soon, wish me luck!

*raises eyebrow* what sort of upgrades were you using? i'm going over before thanksgiving and using the DMUTA4's. Just wondering if i might be having difficulty as a CP to FRA.

The purchase sounds sketchy to me. Did anyone get upgraded or did all open seats go to the mystery purchasers?

I tried to use transatlantic SA certs, and it was the first time those did not work for me. I think as a CP with DMUTA04s you should be OK.

To be precise, prior to leaving for the airport, itn.net showed 8 seats available in Envoy. The agent told me Envoy was full when I checked in around 4:30pm, and the agent at the Envoy Club told me there was 1 seat left. I don't think there was anything sketchy going on, I assume 7 seats may have been mileage upgrades processed prior to my 2 hour window with the TA SA certs. As for the one remaining seat being purchased on such short notice - I guess stranger things have happened. :o
I was in an exit row aisle and spoke to a guy who had tried to use miles to upgrade upon check-in and was told that wasn't possible day of departure. I think some lazy agent didn't want to bother, eh? :td:

Did the same trip in Oct and was upgraded with miles outbound but could not on my return. Both ways every seat was filled. Am doing the same trip in Nov and have the option of leaving Sat or Sun, hence my question. Looks like I will try Sunday Nov 7 and hope for the best. Just did a fake purchase and when checking the seats it looks like Sun is less full in both Envoy and the back.

I've tried once or twice to upgrade internationally at the airport using miles, and was also told that it had to be done ahead of time. DM upgrade instructions on the Web say that you need to do it at least 48 hours in advance.
