OK this is not really an SAS topic but I believe this is the forum to which it could be of most interest.
In the beginning of December SN Brussels will start a cooperation with Malmö Aviation and subsequently they will move all their flights from Arlanda to Bromma airport, just 10 km from the city centre (in contrast to 41 km to Arlanda).
There will be five flights Monday-Friday, one flight on Saturdays, and two flights on Sundays between BMA and BRU, these will be operated by both airlines metal.
At the same time Bromma will for the first time in history get a business class lounge, it will be available for Malmö Aviation gold card holders and probably also for business class passengers.
During the spring 2005 Malmö Aviation will also open two new routes to Prague and Budapest, although mostly targeting leisure travellers.
This is great news for Bromma. Since I have lived most of my life pretty close to this airport I have followed its development with great interest.
With the new cooperation and the improved service I suppose SAS will face severe competition.
Short travel time to the airport (15 minutes from Stockholm city), late check-in closure, lounge, short walking distance from check-in to gate to aircraft, business class onboard, and great onward connections to/from BRU.
And I haven't even mentioned the FF benefits... (even more relevant now when EB is changing)
This could really be an alternative to SAS in the future...
What do you think? At least I wouldn't mind.
Just to add: I just checked Malmö Aviation and SN Brussels webpages and you do earn full points in economy for all booking classes (for BMA-BRU you earn 1600 points in Malmö Aviation FF and 1000 points in SN Brussels FF as it looks now). SN Brussels also serves free food onboard in both classes.
