You cannot transfer US miles to UA Mileage Plus. You can call US and ask for an award ticket for a UA flight. You cannot do it online.

I have about about 14,000 Dividend Miles and will be doing some travel on USAIR in a few weeks. Should i open a United account and begin collecting the miles on there or should i continue collecting the miles on Dividend Miles. I also have loads of points i can transfer from American Express Rewards. What would your suggestion be??

Depends how much travel you will be doing, where you do most of your traveling and if you think US will be around next year.

UA is offering a special offer for flyers who want to get to their elite leel faster. They will give you double qualifying miles for flights between the 10/25 and 12/15. There are some conditions on the offer and it will cost $150 to participate.

You can also check out the star alliance forum here under global alliances. There might be some posts on UA and US there.

14,000 DM's won't get you a trip--but you might be able to swing an upgrade with them.

are the rewards for similar amounts? tried to book an FC award on UA using Dividend Miles and the agent said it was 60,000 miles! She said that is the redemption for US miles on UA for FC. Is this true?

If it helps, this was for a flight to Canada, maybe that is where the difference in miles is. not sure.

I agree, 'depends' is the key word. The lowest US FF award is 20k for a US48 ticket anywhere US flies (ie. can't be on United), thru the end of Feb (Mar 1 to Sept is standard 25k for coach). With 14k DM already, I think I'd probably credit your upcoming US trips to DM, then do a MR transfer to top off the account. Within a month you could have enough miles for an award on US (which I'd suggest redeeming sooner than later).
