Not 100% sure, but I believe for SP it is 55,000, GP is 45,000, and CP is 35,000.

I am not sure if I understand this. Are you saying you can use your miles to joing the club for a year?

I know that US has a way to redeem miles in exchange for Club memberships, as I've done it in the past. I haven't done it since 2002 since I haven't flown as much as before then. If you call the club contact numbers they can give you details... or if you just go into any club, they should be able to process it on the spot, as that's how I did it the last time I was a member.

Yep. Some airlines offer it for even less. I think HP offers it for 20-25k, but they've only got 3 systemwide clubs (although membership does include NW access). The CP and GP mileage levels seem reasonable, but I probably wouldn't burn 55k just for the club.

A CP can add a spouse for an additional 15K for a total of 50K for both.

I used miles this year to join the club, however I think they said this was the last year and that in 2005 I could not use miles. I would still call the club number and ask if you can use miles

I called, and that's the info they gave me. Thanks. (I don't know why they don't put this stuff on the website.)

Dang, I didn't know we could use miles! The $300 price tag is not expensable for me, so I opted out. Hmmmm. Anyone know if club membership would be transferrable in case the worst happens?

When I called, I asked the woman about what happens of US goes Chapter 7. (I was nice about it.) She basically said Club memberships are nonrefundable, no matter what. So that would be even more the case of US doesn't exist any more.

If you bought the UA or *A options, perhaps they'd still let you in, or maybe not. Hard to say. I'd bet that you'd lose all Club privs if US is Chapter 7.

any chance you could US miles to get the RCC upgrade?

No, the UA upgrade or *A option must be paid in cash.

This made the miles deal less appealing. I think the mile levels are the same for UA RCC, which inclues US and *A.

I joined the Club this weekend. As a CP it was $275 or 40K miles (apparently it has gone up from 35K). It didn't seem worth it to burn 40K miles for a $275 value....

Yup -- got the offer for the 2500 miles if signing up online. As for RCC -- it is only good if you have a same day ticket on United so I didn't take that option. As for the Star Lounges -- as a CP *G I already have access.....

I am glad you caught that little item with UAL's same day ticket option. I did not see that snag until I dug deeper. Whew.

I am still debating on getting the club membership. I travel so much internationally that I automatically get access.
