Traveling there in early Nov. and have rooms for both places. Any info would be much appreciated:
good places to eat nearby
good rooms vs. not so good rooms
transportation issues

many thanks,
Tornado

There are literally dozens of existing threads on the Westin Tokyo, and a good number on the Westin Osaka.

To find this treasure trove of information, use the Search feature with either Tokyo or Osaka as the search term.

Once I get my act together I'll post a report on both these locations from my trip there 2 weeks ago.

You'll also find a lot of other information on Tokyo and Osaka in the Asia forum. Also probably a better place to ask any questions you might have concerning these cities (places to eat, transportation, etc.) outside of questions related to the *wood properties.

Looking forward to any more reports on Osaka myself (the city in general and the Westin in particular) as I'll be staying there myself in mid-Nov.).

We loved the Osaka Westin when we visited this summer. Fantastic service, high even by Japanese standards! The rooms were lovely and are very large by Japanese hotel standards.

There are several threads on Osaka Westin--but I believe you will find most all were quite happy. It is connected to the Sky tower, which as a number of restaurants in the lower level. I highly recommend the tiny sushi bar (I forget the name). Super friendly warm place with delicious sushi.

The Westin has a free shuttle bus to the Osaka station.

The only real drawback to this hotel is the location is not in the thick of things...but it is a free short (10 minutes maybe) shuttle to Osaka Station.

Yes the shuttle bus is fine, but you can also walk to the station in less than 15 minutes, via a long underpass. The breakfast is OK, but I do like the location of the restaurant next to the gardens.
The fitness center is nice, but when I was there a few years ago there was a separate charge. Hope that's changed!
The rooms are nice, service excellent. Have fun!

I stayed at the Westin Tokyo before and had good experience on it.

As a PLT Spg. they upgraded to the Club Level.

That means:

1) FREE DAILY FULL Buffet Breakfast (and let me tell you the Buffet is so extensive it beats the US style Buffet breakfast) for EVERYONE in the room. we had 3 people.
2)Free Drinks daily
3) Free access to the Health Club in Yebisu Garden (really big)

The area is nice and there is a Beer Factory.

However the hike to the JR station (Yebisu Station) is around 10-15 minutes (all covered walkway).

Will I stay there again?? maybe, but the hike to the station is a turn off and the department store there is not that extensive.
