Does anyone see value in a list of CDP's and the %off associated with it? (without any coupons etc)
I know its almost impossible to get a truly comprehensive list, but is it worth trying to give it a shot to see how it goes?

In my experience while there may be a "base" % off associated with a CDP, the actual % off for any given rental can vary widely, so I still check a few when I'm making a rental.

In some cases such as one ways, using a CDP can result in a higher rate quote on Hertz.com, so it always pays to check and/or call Hertz reservations as they can usually cut through the confusion and get you the lowest available rate quote without too much trouble.

I only use 2 CDP's
AMEX Gold: 306613
AMEX Platinum: 211762 (Hertz Rep just gave me code)
ABA: 13000
E-Rewards: 1475777 (CDP rates tend to be high)
In the past, I have been told that you have to use your AMEX card in order to get the discount, however, this past weekend, I used my Capital One card with the AMEX CDP with no problem.
If you play with someone of the CDP's you will run across different companies. AMEX other 2 numbers are: 306612 and 306614, but 306615 is someone else (can't remember right now).

A lot of us use our corporate CDPs, which I believe are supposed to be used only by employees or people associated in some way with the particular corporation. Not a good idea to publish those on a BB, IMO.
The corporate CDP associated with my Hertz #1 Gold account gives me LDW included (no extra charge) in all rentals. That is a valuable benefit, and is one of the reasons I use Hertz more often than other rental companies. (However, I don't rent cars very often when I travel.) That, and the Gold service is generally superior to the service at other companies; and I find the rates to be competitive as well, especially when I use Hertz promos to knock something off the rate.

Kathy,
I do agree with your statement about posting codes, but can't this list be used in the same manner in which the Marriott Code thread is used? Anyone can you the AMEX codes I listed as long as they have an AMEX card. I'm attempting to find codes for Capital One, Visa or MasterCard, but no luck thus far.
Also, I thought I read on a thread within Flyer Talk, that anyone can get an ABA Discount Code. Apparently, the ABA allows non lawyer to join (how or why, I don't know), with the non-lawyer has to pay the appropriate fee.
Sandi
PS. Moderators, please feel free to remove the codes I posted.

Sure, I think a list of the widely-available CDP's would be helpful (e.g., stuff like Amex, Entertainment, various AAA codes (there are many), Costco, etc.). I for one have found the Marriott thread very useful - I've used codes from that thread to get amazing rates on several occasions - in all cases using codes that I am perfectly entitled to use, but I simply didn't know about.
In practice, I don't expect to hit many home runs with new CDP's at Hertz. But it can't hurt.
The Marriott thread got somewhat polluted with discussion about the ethics of "stealing" employee codes. Perhaps we can avoid going down that path here by NOT posting our corporate codes and sticking to the broader membership/organization codes that people can either use without restriction or (to be perfectly ethical) use after paying a membership fee to AAA, Costco, etc.

The thing with corp cdp is that your CC and/or Hertz can argue to void any insurance in court by stating you misrepresented yourself since the contract itself explicited states you are a employee/member of XXX company/association in the event of a loss.

Absolutely. I definitely would not give my company's CDP to non-employees or use someone else's CDP. I know our company contract has very specific insurance coverages built in. Could get messy if you use one of those inproperly and wrap a rental car around a telephone pole - a lot messier than simply boosting IBM's code for a hotel stay.

AAA rates are usually the best, but not always. Try the US Air Hertz CDP #157348 at DFW. Beat my AAA rate for an upcoming (March) rental. Also, never be satisfied that the rate you booked, even using the AAA CDP, won't go lower. I've learned to repeatedly check my rate right up until the day of the rental. Back in September, I rented from Hertz in Charleston, WV. I had booked using my AAA rate many months prior. Checked for lower rates almost every week since the original booking and the morning I was due to arrive in Charleston, my AAA rate dropped $3/day. Same CDP code, same car type, same pickup/dropoff times, just a lower rate.

Entertainment book has a ton of CDP's. Entertainment considers the coupons in the book "paperless coupons." Meaning you do NOT have to show them upon rental.
Moreover, the CDP's are readily available on their site w/o membership (although as a entertainment member this is odd, but the dinner deals are worth the fees for the book). Plus, these CDP's are combinable with other corporate account offers. ^
And I am in favor of public CDP 'awareness' for these numbers similar to the Marriot / Avis lists.

Note that this might vary by city or by Entertainment book.
All of the Hertz coupons in my books for both '04 and '05 have PC #1xxxxx. Therefore, you must present the coupon. I don't know if you can gain much benefit by using the Entertainment CDP and a PC #9xxxxxx from the Hertz.com site. Most times, you have to pair up the PC with a valid CDP.
I've never found ENT useful for Hertz. I have found it useful for Alamo and National - ENT free weekend days when nothing else is working well at all - but I only go there if Hertz.com is really not playing nice with the rates.

I am a AAA Mid-Atlantic member. I can't find the CDP on the website. It allows me to reserve a car from the AAA site. I'd like to have the option to book it elsewhere, though. I don't want to steal a code. I just want the benefit I paid for without having to book a car through a third party site.
1. Does anyone know my correct CDP or where to find it on the site?
2. If I use a AAA code from a different region, is that good enough?

I used to invert the CDPs for WV (206) with WA (260) all the time. Always wondered why my CDP shows "AAA of West Virginia". The discount for both is 10%.
I have never been asked to show my AAA ID nor have I ever needed to use my AAA number (like you must now do with Hilton), so I don't think Hertz cares if you are an actual member or not.

The CDP for Qantas Frequent Flyers is 297302 - it generally gives good rates within Australia anyway (I haven't used it elsewhere) - tends to be lower than the Entertainment CDP of 1441781 anyway.

I was actually about to call and ask AAA for the CDP because the MN/IA site doesn't have the CDP number either. Then I noticed that the CDP number is actually printed right on my AAA card. Go figure. It's 00049, btw, if anybody needs the MN/IA code.

I know it's a PC - not a CDP - but it might be useful to some: 959976. It's a Free Weekend Day, Compact through Premium, minimum two-day (^) rental. It works with my AAA CDP and it works with the standard 5% off airline CDP's that Hertz lists on its website. Valid on pickups through 5/15/05. I received it in an email from Hertz about a month ago.

This came out in the 5* email newsletter. If you're not 5*/PC and the website lets you book it, more than likely no one will question it.
Any PC that starts with "9" is an internet PC with no coupon required. However, it's not a bad idea to print out the page and have it with you when you return the vehicle.

It was a direct email from Hertz. I get emails from them about once every 2-3 months with some "9" codes in them. The emails do not appear to be targeted beyond the fact that you had to subscribe to Hertz's emails to get it.

Aaahh...you beat me to it. (I forget if my email was related to Five Star or not. I think I am 5*, but people at Hertz look at me like I have sprouted a second head whenever I ask whether any upgrades are available for Five-Stars. So either I'm not or they don't know what it is...

I'm confused why there is such confusion about AAA codes. Call your local AAA once, get the number and input it into your web profile. You never have to think about it again. If you find other good CDPs, input them, too. You can select which CDP to use each time you rent.

I absolutely agree with that one should have the printout handy, just in case. I was in SAN this past weekend and rented for 2 weekend days. Rented a Compact "B" class vehicle and was given a 2005 Toyota Celica (approx 1600miles on it).
I used the PC code for 5$ off each weekend day. so the quoted price was $42 - $10 discount = $32. (Didn't know about 959976 (Free weekend day), which is discussed in this thread... :( )
The fare quote card I received at the rental said $42, and it stated that the promotional coupon would be deducted at return. Well at return, the checkin guy gave me a receipt that said that I will be charged $42. I took it to the manager and I explained that it should be $32 with a coupon. He said do you know what source the PC# came from. I took out my reservation and showed him the PC# (which is printed on the reservation confirmation) and he took care of the problem.

I am thinking of joining AAA for these benefits. I don't have a car (and no personal car insurance) and rent from Hertz A LOT. Up to now I have been using my employer's CDP (which includes insurance), but I will be leaving this job soon. Is there enough insurance coverage from Hertz+AAA Rates+Credit Card without personal insurance?
Looks like this was previously asked here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=325902&highlight=AAA+liability) but there were no answers there. Thanks!

Hi!
I was just browsing through these 'exotic' airlines and stumbled upon their FFP's. I noticed that they have some rather good discount rates with Hertz. The only problem is that I could not find the CDP # for them and thus was wondering if they are still member's of Hertz? I have checked the list avaliable on the website of Hertz, but could not find them listed.
The rates with these programs can get your from between 30-40% discount!
So, if anyone has access or know what they, it would be a good addition.

Originally, I was asking for help in finding the link for this coupon but I found it in another thread. Thank you!
As an attorney, I don't think any court would hold that up as a valid argument. Hertz puts these discount codes out there because they WANT people to use them. They want people to use Hertz, not Avis. There is a niche of people who search out the best rates, and Hertz knows, as any smart business does, that it has to cater to these people because they'd lose a lot of revenue otherwise.
If they wanted to they have the technology to check whether someone is actually a member with a real member discount or if they're jsut using someone else's CDP#. But they don't do that, because they want to rent you a car, and they know you'd go somewhere else if it was cheaper.
i use whichever cdp# gives me the best rate, and right now that one is 1261109 from abnsave.com

For what it's worth; I check EVERYONE'S AAA card unless they are Gold members. There are certain provisions that come with using AAA that are important. In short, if you will not have a valid AAA card in the renter's name at time of rental then do not use in the reservation.
