Starwood Preferred Guest - V3P vs V2P Status

Hi, does anyone know what the difference between V2P and V3P is? Checking in to a Westin Charlotte I have spotted a list of "VIPs Arriving Today" and “VIPs Currently in House", next to all the name's of the residents there was a V2P code. Being a Platinum I have a V3P next to my name on reservations and I know I wasn't listed on that VIP list. How does one end up on that list or becomes V2P?

I'm fairly certain that the only folks that are going to be able to enlighten you on any of this work at The Westin Charlotte.
