Las Vegas - going to Vegas this weekend (10/15-17) no hotel, what to do?

So when we booked our flights a long time ago, like 6 months, all the hotels were pretty expensive (4 stars all above $200) so I decided to wait awhile.

As of tonight at 10pm it's the same story. Even priceline is letting me down.

Any tips? We don't particularly need to be at the strip, but want a nicer hotel with a pool and such. Looking to spend $200/night tops.

Thanks!

Did you try www.vegas.com ?

Thanks. I did find some better stuff there, including a $200ish rate, so it's not all lost.

I wonder though if things will open up in the middle of this week as hotels look at their inventories?

Just checked www.tripreservations.com, Riviera Hotel and Casino is available for $144.00.

There is an AARP convention in town this week, and most of the hotels are blocked for attendees. Try calling the organisers at 1-800-883-2784 to see if there are any rooms left or last minute cancellations. (I saw rooms still available at Aladdin for $159.00 for Oct. 15th - 17th.) Good luck.

I am @ Marriott Suites this Fri. and Sat. with use of my points. The Venetian Sun. night for $159 booked on there website.

Don't really want to use my points so I have been looking also for a place on the strip Fri and Sat. Cheapest i found was Balley's for like $169 and $189 for Fri. and Sat.

Priceline no help for this weekend. Bid up to $200 for a 4* and no luck.

You can gamble all your money at a low roller casino and they will put you in a room or a suite. Hey Free Room!

Cholula, I forgot about this. Are you planning on finding some time in our schedule to attend some of those events?

My buddy's bachelor party is in Vegas this weekend, and I am in the same boat as the OP. I will likely share a room at the host hotel (Treasure Island) with one or two -- or three or four! of the other guys. I am sure that will still run me more money than my discount airline ticket!

You should have seen him dancing away with the 80 year old gals tonight.

People who do not have rooms in Vegas should not panic. I found myself in a similar situation this week when I cancelled my reservation after a rate dispute with the Embassy Suites. After trying priceline (no success) I kept checking travelweb and orbitz and waited... and waited... and waited... particularly for last minute cancellations or inventory adjustments which are almost certain to occur.

Sure enough, the Alladin just cut their weekend rate by almost 50%, and I was able to snag a room at spg.com, no problemo, at a very reasonable rate. Since this is considered a high demand "holiday weekend" I suspect this will work on most occasions with exception of special events and conventions where the town is entirely sold out.

Patience is a virtue.
