Hi. I just came back from a 5 night trip to Beijing on Pacific Delight Tours. Of the nine people on the tour, only my husband and I did NOT purchase on sky auction. I had never heard of sky auction before but the tour members said that they had bought great travel packages on this site. Anyone have any experience on sky auction?

I've used them twice with no problems. I've heard problems from others however

I used them for a hotel in Vancouver it worked out, OK You do have to read details carefully extra fees can sometime add up ,I have seen many winning bidders pay what I thought was more then they could buy elsewhere, most flights no ff miles, many times first bid you see is high which seems a little fishey

I agree .You better read all print very carefully as once you buy its yours. If you do your research there can really be some good deals,as I have gotten several great deals on hotels, but make sure you read CAREFULLY all details.. :)

Skyauction used to have some good prices on airfares, but I stopped using them when they started charging (what I consider) excessive fees. Read the fine print to verify whether FF miles will be earned.
I also agree that people tend to bid too high on a lot of the offers. If you track fares you should have a good idea of a maximum amount you are willing to pay.

Hello silver springer,
there is a search function and if you had tried the search keyword "skyauction" you would have found a few threads asking about skyauction the way you did. This one for instance: http://flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=301715&highlight=skyauction
just fyi, hope this helps you utilize Flyertalk more.

We won a 5 day caribbean cruise via SA although it was very last-minute and took a total of 3 attempts bidding on the same cruise to finally win it at the price we were willing to pay, i.e. we were outbidded on prior 2 auctions for the same cruise. No different treatment by cruiseline because our tickets were from SA. Hope this helps.

I bid and won a Fiji trip a few years ago. Air New Zealand always seems to have their flights up for auction so it was a bit easier to win (for me at least). Since I went in the lower season, I didn't have a problem with the dates I wanted as I was flexible.
