My travel agent wants to book my husband and I at the Southern Cross Suites in Sydney. I searched FT and found a reviewer complaining of mold and general uncleanliness. However, this review was from a few years ago. All other reviews that I have seen online are so "great" that I'm not sure I trust their authenticity. Has anyone stayed there recently? Any other suggestions?
Thanks for your help.

Since you haven't gotten any other responses, take a look at tripadvisor (link below). I've never stayed at this hotel and my impression of it from walking by is that I would never want to stay there (sydney is full of great hotels, and this might barely make the top 100 -- quite possibly that bad). But as I've never stayed it isn't an informed opinion, however I do know that they give great TA commissions. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g255060-d255425-Reviews-Quality_Hotel_Southern_Cross-Sydney_New_South_Wales.html

Thanks, Number_6. The link you left is for the sister hotel to the one I am interested in. I suspect that high commisions are the reason it was recommended, though.
