I'm flying on CX750 from BOM - BKK in Oct. The flight leaves at 450am from Mumbai, India. I was wondering if anyone knows the hours of operation for the CX lounges (I think there are 2 - Taj and BA Terraces lounge). Also, which one is better?
Thanks.
I have a 12 hour layover in Mumbai - 4:30pm to 4:50am. It's my first time in Mumbai/Bombay. What areas should I visit and what's there to see? Where are the cool/hip areas to hang out and grab some dinner?? I don't plan on hanging out at the CX lounge in BOM for 12 hrs...any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't recall which lounge CX uses in BOM, but IIRC it was a shared, restaurant-type facility that was open to all hours. It was certainly open in the wee hours before the departure of CX 750.
The BA Lounge is rather smallish and they usually try to restrict access to BA Golds and FIRST pax only. I've used it once and found it preferable to the shared lounge.
As I am neither cool nor hip, I cannot coment on the quality of Mumbai nightlife, but I can tell you that there are two very nice hotels (Hyatt and Sheraton) about 5 minutes from the international terminal at BOM.
Perhaps B747-437 can enlighten us on the hot spots in Mumbai. :)
I have done the CX flight out of Mumbai a lot recently... As the flight is two class configuration, regular J passengers are shunted into the BA Terraces lounge. It is pitiful and small. Higher grade MPC members can get a voucher for redemption at the Clipper Bar. Again not something I'd rush for.
12 hour layover ? Well you will no doubt need a Visa for entering India first.
I suggest you book a room at either Sheraton, Hyatt, or Le Meridien (all near airport). This has a few advantages:
- a place to sleep before the 3am check-in. the flight may well be delayed (as it has been for me) if you subscribe to CX Notifly, then you'll get a text message update, and a few more hours in bed is better than waiting at the airport.
- you can easily get a hotel driver to pick you up from airport, stop at hotel for check-in, then drive into city to see a few things.
one warning about heading into the city though... traffic. trying to see too much or go to far can possibly result in being marooned.
i just go do the hotel/office routine when i go, so other than the Gate of India, I have little recommendations. Lonely Planet will help no doubt.
