Hi!
Have booked an award ticket in C.
Will arrive in AKL on monday just after midnight from PPT on NZ flight, connecting to SQ AKL-SIN flight at 3pm (10am flight not available...)
Any chance NZ lounge would be open that late in order to refresh and nap, before heading downtown in the morning?
Or should i book a room in the city and plan a 1/2 day tour? If so, what would you suggest from 8am/12pm?
In advance, thank you for your insight.

AKL lounge very unlikely to be open then - would only be if one of the late flights was very late in leaving as it is supposed to be for departures only not arrivals (security requirement).

You have enough time for a half day tour (just). Perhaps Kelly Tarlton underwater world or Sky City/tower? Or for female travellers maybe a spa visit. You could also do duty free shopping down town (on Customs St).

Do yourself a favour, book yourself into the Hilton. It has the best location of all AKL hotels (and is a stunning building overlooking the harbour). From there you're in the Centre/Skytower/shopping areas within 5 mins walking. Just have a nice breakfast at the Viaduct Harbour and then explore the city. There is a spa in/by the Hilton too.

Just be aware that the Hilton is very expensive (by NZ standards). If you only have a few hours then I suggest a trip to the Auckland museum - close to the city CBD (maybe $10 taxi ride), super views of Auckland and the harbour, plus a useful insight into NZ history (maori and european).

The museum also has good bus service (http://www.stagecoach.co.nz/auckland/scnz_seraukrutestmes3.html#museums) including The Link (http://www.stagecoach.co.nz/thelink/index.html). Depending on which hotel you stay at you may also be able to use the free hotel shuttle to drop off directly (easier to walk down the hill from museum back to the city than vice versa!).
