Hertz - FullSize rental - cruise not working

I rented a ford taurus this weekend from Hertz. The cruise control wasn't working and I endend up driving it for 700 miles without cruise. My calf muscles have been aching since.
When I returned the car and told them about the problem, they just nodded and said they will take care of it. Not even an apology!! Also the indicator would keep showing "low oil pressure".
Should I complain somewhere?

Definitely complain to Hertz!

Easiest way is to go to hertz.com and click on the "customer service" box in the lower right corner - next to the "help" button. I would fill out a Rental Satisfaction Survey and be sure to add comments at the end. I would also send them an email - click on "A Past Rental Experience" and fill it out. Might sound like a PITA but I've had success (credits & $$$ off coupons) with this in the past.

Also, Hertz has a Roadside Assistance number you can call (listed on the rental agreement) and exchange a problem car at a location that's convenient to you -- I didn't know this until after I joined Gold. Just make sure you fill the tank before you exchange.

Thanks JC, I have gone ahead and complained as you suggested. I did call up the emergency road assistance, and they recommended me to exchange the car at the Austin airport. I was far from the airport and I wasn't able to make it there during the trip. The drive to Dallas next day was bad without the cruise control and and I ended up with pain in calf muscles.

I had a similar experience on a one-day, one-way rental from Boston to Rochester, NY - 6 hours with no cruise - but it was handled much differently. When I turned the car in I went to the counter to let them know about the problem and ask for some sort of compensation. The agent got on a walkie-talkie with the manager who asked what my daily rate was ($70) and immediately said to give me $35 off. I've always had this kind of quick response to any problem with a Hertz rental.
