Air New Zealand Air Points - How can one upgrade on ANZ?

Will be flying SYD-AKL and CHC-SYD in a few weeks.

I know ANZ is very sticky about upgrades but have there been any rule changes and is there any way I can do this, short of paying a premium ticket. I am a *A Gold and AC SE in case that helps. Can upgrades be transferred on ANZ?

Only ways I am aware of to upgrade on NZ are:

NZ airpoints u/g e-voucher
NZ airpoints points
*A UK u/g voucher
fairly rare op up

On the trans-tasman routes there is no first, biz is just 8 seats on the A320. But more biz seats on the 767 which IIRC only serves AKL-SYD (some flights only).

There is a lot of business traffic trans-tasman, especially early morning and evening flights.
