Flying CX 839 tomorrow from YVR-HKG and then CX 701 next week from HKG-DEL in J. Wondering whether both have flat beds? Assume regional J does not. Hope the 839 does though. How does it compare to BA's flat beds?

Hunt around on CX's website for some pics and description of the longhaul J product. The seat doesn't go fully flat but stops at a 9 degree incline. I personally found it good for dozing and sitting, but awful for prolonged sleeping.

Correct, regional A330s don't have the 'flat' J product. AFAIK Delhi is served by the "330" configured aircraft, not the "333" which is used mainly on SYD/MEL.

Thanks. That's strange. One would think that those extra 9 degrees wouldn't be that much more expensive or space consuming. Oh well. Guess I should have flown on BA via LHR for the true flat experience.

I am actually flying HKG-BKK (not directly DEL) and then connecting to TG for BKK-DEL. The HKK-BKK a "330" or "333" configuration? Would the 333 have flat-ish beds in J?

Correct. But I presume it's a marketing tactic. They need to differentiate J from their F. You provide a "truly" flat bed in J, you risk some F-flyers compromising for J. Of course, I'm not referring to certain reputable F-class flyer on this board, who values other tangibles such as privacy, service, and sense of supremacy.

NO Actually if they make it fully flat (like BA) and not on a slope, they will at least have to remove 2-3 rows. Therefore it is an economics thing the SLope down.

I really hope CX will introduce something NEW int he near future. Also the CAtering! Please improve the J Catering!

The BA fat bed is like flying in a coffin, much prefer the CX product, where you can curl up,lie on your side and generqally have a far better time with avod... needless to say will stop now.

HKG - BKK has allsorts of aircraft types. those with F service generally have the better J product also.

Having tried both CX and BA's new J class cabin on recent flights to Europe and Asia from North America, I have to also confess that I prefer CX's J class product over BA's. Simple, CX offers a better inflight product proposition: better cabin staff, seat and entertainment system which I can control.

In First Class, Cathay again wins hands down.

I fly a lot between YVR and HKG on CX J and find their NBC seat very comfortable, I don't hv any sliding and slipping problem in the sleeping position, usually I can sleep over 5 hrs i could have slept more but blame on their StudioCX, I hv too many movies to finish within the approx 13 hrs flight from YVR. For their J catering..hm......the problem is on their main course, Ages ago they started with the cassrole dish , then they plate the food item on the trolley in the cabin, after SARS the changed back to cassrole dish, the presentation is.......disappointed, the portion is ok cos i hv once asked the F/A to transfer the own dish into their usual J CL main dish plate and it looked plentiful on the plate. Taste hm...very personal. the inflight noodle is good if you like the texture of the HK style noodle ISO the Cup noodles with the the garnish of Beef Brisket or Wonton/Shuigau or Chix(depends on the menu). F/A are usually good even better if u hv their YVR base crew who can recognize you once you step into the aircraft, and know your preference of drink and needs, sooo personal!

For their NRBC seat within Asian. well for the flight within 3-4 hours is ok, I will treat it something better than the Premium Economy class, anyway hope latest improvement campagin for the seat will work however I won't hv a chance to try until Spring 2005
