I have several sectors on NZ in November this year AKL-WLG and AKL-CHC and vv in asssociation with trans Tasman J class flights .I assume that the days of domestic J class is gone and I will be presumably on their 737 offering. Can any readers suggest the best domestic seats to request eg exit row, front row .

I would go for the front row seats myself as it means you are pretty much first of the plane. Not sure what the situation is with exit row seats is and whther thye can be pre allocated.

Yup domestic biz is long gone.
See NZ ultimate seating thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25056)
I would go for 1 DEF - much more legroom than 1 ABC (bulkhead is further away).
I don't like the first row due to the bulkhead. I prefer row 2 - still very quick off the plane but more legroom (at least that's how it feels to me!)

maybe you were on the wrong side of the a/c? 1 DEF has way more room than anything else on the 737 (the special seat with no exit row seat in front excepted)

Personally I'm a row 2 kinda guy - I never have enough footroom in bulkhead seats. 2F for flights into WLG and 2A out - that way you get the great city views if you come in from / take off towards the north. But really, there's not much in it. The first few rows of Y definitely have better pitch than further back - although the ultimate seating thread indicates they are 31" pitch it felt a little more spacious than that, and certainly less squeezy than on QF's domestic 737s even though they are supposedly 32" pitch.

Yes I agree on that one............getting those superb views of WLG as you either arrive or depart. Much nicer than arriving at dreary ole AKL.

IIRC this is due to reconfiguration to an all Y config.
