Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - HKG-JFK double bonus aisamiles not applicable if a stopover is made in YVR

Just got awarded with the bonus Asia miles for the HK-NY promotion. After looking at my statement carefully, I realized Asia miles were only credited to my account for the leg from JFK to HKG (direct flight) but not the leg from HKG to JFK (via YVR). I called MPC today and I was told since I did a stop over in Vancouver the bonus miles will not apply. I checked the T&Cs in the Asiamiles web site for this promotion and there was no mentioned on stopping over is not allowed. Just curious if I am the only one has experienced this problem? :confused:

From my understanding of the promo, it states "To mark this historic moment, simply register online and you can earn Double Asia Miles when flying Cathay Pacific's double daily service (CX830/831/888/889) in any travel class between the two cities." That would mean you may take either the Nonstop or the 1 stop but travel must specifically be between the two cities, ie HKG and NYC only. If ylou flew HKG-YVR and stopped there even though you are ticketed onto NYC, you are effectively on a HKG-YVR flight and that does not qualify for the above promo. It is only if you flew CX 888 all the way to NYC without getting off in YVR.

Thank you Guy Betsy for your advice. I couldn't resist and decided to write to MPC anyway and they were kind enough to honor the bonus miles offer :D . I just hope that I did not get black-listed forever.

That is good to hear. I don't think you'd be blacklisted for that. It's more like CX gets more careful in wording provisions for furture promotions, I would think.
