These are all actual flight from United:

1. flight 1492 to Columbus, OH (1492 discovers America)

2. flight 711 to Las Vegas (711 is lucky number in gambling)

3. flight 1776 to Philadelphia (1776 establishment of USA declared in Philadelphia)

and the best of all....

4. flight 911 to Washington, DC (911 is emergency assistance required telephone number in the US)

That's very funny of United, and very clever
of you to find that Mileage Addict.

But here's two flight numbers I don't think
show up on ANY airline. 13 and 666. I don't
believe in luck (except in getting upgrades)
but I'm attempting to be as funny as UNITED.

I like that topic - thank you for informing us.

But how many people on flight 711 come away winners?

And if you call 911 in DC, you get a busy signal

The winners on flight 711 are the ones who
got the upgrades without any hassles. Everyone on board wins if the flight arrives
on time (but like blackjack and all gambling
the odds vary.)

Flight 911 is now diverted to NYC, where
there are fewer emergencies. CATMAN

Actually SAS operates SK013 between LLA-ARN. Departure time is 17.05 and with arrival time at Arlanda 18.30

A few more on Northwest:

NW 500 MSP-IND (Indianapolis 500 race)

NW 711 MSP-LAS

NW 777 MSP-LAS

They used to have 1492 MSP-CMH and 1776 MSP-PHL years ago but I guess they dropped them.

I guess AA doesn't have a sense of humor by this definition:

1776 is DFW-MCO (nothing of revolutionary significance happened in either place)

1492 is SLC-ORD-ATL (ditto for ol' Chris)

911 is LAX-MIA-SCL (maybe the two US cities have a high number of 911 calls, but I don't think AA would try to do anything with that)

711, 777 don't exist (neither do 13, 666)

500 is ORD-DCA (no magic here)

My Nov. 1 print timetable shows 2711 LAS-LAX, but the Web doesn't have it. I suspect the number was random.

CO has the ". flight 1492 to Columbus, OH (1492 discovers America) "

and, flight 500 from Indy to newark.

AND " flight 1776 to Philadelphia (1776 establishment of USA declared in Philadelphia) "

None of the others, though.

American likes to use arbitrary, oddball departure times, too, even in non-slot controlled airports. Why can't they just call a 4:21pm flight a 4:20 and make life easier??

Delta has no sense of humour with flight numbers (but we could probably have guessed that http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif)

Omni warning

Anyone remember when Sony (I think it was) put out a VCR manual with diagrams complete with a VCR with the date December 7 (the date the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor of course)
