I will be traveling on my Honeymoon LAX-HKG-LAX and was wondering if 1AK or 3DG would be better.

Alfred-- I like 1AK Search for more details - it is well covered here prudentbear Sep 17, 04, 5:10 am Definitely 1A,1K. Privacy, more space. wideman Sep 17, 04, 6:48 am For a honeymoon, I'd definitely choose the center seats in row 3. Those seats are divided only by a low partition, while 1A-K is divided by several feet of carpet. No hand-holding in 1A-K; all the handholding you want in 3D-G. When you make the trip again in 2 years or 5 years, that's when 1A-K become the seats of choice. (It is true, though, that 3D-G have less legroom than the window seats. And it's reassuring to know that Brother Watson and I disagree.) inlanikai Sep 17, 04, 7:48 am Definetly 3DG. And the let the Purser know you're on your Honeymoon and you'll probably get a little extra TLC. Congratulations! ^ DataPlumber Sep 17, 04, 8:58 am I will be traveling on my Honeymoon LAX-HKG-LAX and was wondering if 1AK or 3DG would be better. Alfred-- Once you are in the air and the ambient noise of air woshing is in effect, 1 A&K are a too far apart to have a conversation. 3 D&G are much beter seats for a couple, IME. francisliang Sep 17, 04, 9:00 am I like 1A and 1K because of Privacy. Also like the windows :) plumbar Sep 17, 04, 9:24 am Definately 3D-G. They are meant for honeymooners or husbands and wives who still can tolerate sitting together  Actually 4D-G are more private since it is in the last row with no one behind you and not open in front of you. EXPLAT Sep 17, 04, 12:25 pm Thank you for all of your responses! Isn't 4DG right next to the galley, I was thinking row 3 to be away from the light and noise. marcuslai Sep 17, 04, 2:33 pm maybe this photo can you decide first on cx 747 (http://www.wereamshallbe.com/display.html?/tmp/fc747.jpg) u can see the gap in 1AK from that shot, and if you find it acceptable, then no contest -- the windows (all eight of them, and curving inwards) are wonderful to have when landing in HKG. bp888 Sep 17, 04, 3:32 pm Thank you for all of your responses! There's enough separation between Row 4 and the galley so that you shouldn't be bothered by the light and noise. Besides, CX F/A's are a pretty quiet and polite group. I disagree, I have had 4D before and darn near lost my mind form the ambient noise. It wasn't FAs talking or anything like that. It was metal silver wear and china clanking from time to time. I noticed later that they parked a cart with all of clean silver in the little corridor between the 1L and 1R doors. There was no issue with light as the curtains were drawn. Guy Betsy Sep 17, 04, 3:55 pm The question here is whether EXPLAT can get those seats. Let us know. It would be a bummer if one seat has already been occupied by someone else. EXPLAT Sep 17, 04, 6:16 pm Well I checked ita and all seats on our flights are empty with no assignments. EXPLAT Sep 17, 04, 6:22 pm I forgot to ask, do the seats swivel like on the American Airlines 777 where you can face each other or where you can visit and sit together in one Pod? It looks like 1AK are a little far apart to be together but I will miss having the windows if we sit in 3DG or 4DG. Where is the separate changing room on the 747? Looking at the aircraft picture on Cathay.com I did not see it. andrzej Sep 17, 04, 6:29 pm I forgot to ask, do the seats swivel like on the American Airlines 777 where you can face each other or where you can visit and sit together in one Pod? Looking at the aircraft picture on Cathay.com I did not see it. The changing room is gone. The suites are not like the AA Atlantic suites. No swivel and not possible to sit opposite. Congratulations! Have a great trip! DataPlumber Sep 18, 04, 9:51 am It looks like 1AK are a little far apart to be together but I will miss having the windows if we sit in 3DG or 4DG. Where is the separate changing room on the 747? On the LAX-HKG leg you will not miss much. Generally, A lot of darkness and lonely ocean. The FAs will shut all of the shades overnight anyway. The AVOD has far more going on if you can't sleep. There is no separate changing room. There is a bench that folds down out of the wall over the loos. Cathay crew manage light and noise quite well, but my vote is row 1. Hand holding is awkward in any seat, and visiting each other is easiest in row 1. |
