I just joined the QF FF program today and duly printed out my bronze membership card. As I have several oneworld flights next week, would it be better to have the QF membership number entered (using my paper membership card) or leave the number off and submit the BP's later for credit? I'm not sure how IB and BA check-in agents will react to the temporary card.

Just put the number in the booking. There is no need to show the agents your membership card at all

headinclouds, I presume you did the research on the crediting of IB (moreso than BA) flights to QF's FF program.
9.3 Frequent Flyer Partner Airlines - Restrictions on Point Earning
9.3.1
(b) In addition to the Eligible Flight requirements in clause 9.2.1, the following Fare types and route restrictions apply to the earning of Points on certain Frequent Flyer Partner Airline and oneworld Alliance Airline flights. Fares and routes listed are those which are not eligible for earning Points unless otherwise specified:
Iberia: Codeshare flights operated by airlines other than oneworld alliance airlines. Discounted fares booked in T class.
Although the T&C's advise the following:
British Airways: Fares booked in G, K, L, M, N, O, S, V, and Q class are defined as Discount Economy and will earn 25% of the base economy accrual rate. This will become your base economy accrual rate for the purpose of awarding a Status bonus.
they appear to have been recently superceded by the announcement that BA flights will be credited at 100% (can't find the link anywhere at the moment)...
Just wondering (depending on the length and class of travel), whether the AA AA Gold or Platinum Challenges might be better (for expedited move to status)...thus if you decide to join AA FF and enter the challenge (and don't put in your QF FF number into the booking), then you'll be able to move the flights over.

This came in the FF newsletter that arrived in my inbox yesterday:
From now until 30 June 2005 you'll earn one point for every mile flown in Economy on a British Airways flight number between Australia and Asia or Europe. Eligible British Airways flights are between: Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide or Darwin and Singapore, Bangkok, Frankfurt or London (return).
So it is not all BA flights just those going to/from Oz.

It is only BA flights covered by the BA/QF Joint Services Agreement (JSA) between LHR and SYD/MEL and associated codeshares (including Australian domestic codesahres connecting to SYD/MEL BA flights) that get the 100% miles flown until June 2005. All other BA flghts are credited as per the QF FF program Terms and Conditions for points acrual based on fare type purhcased.

It is not that simple, since it is a BA RTW booking and my AA FF number is already in BA's records. There are many stories of persons having difficulties using multiple FF #'s when using BA. I have already re-qualified for OW Emerald on AA and have these left over flights (bus and first), so I decided to join QF.

On *A I have many times changed the FFP to credit miles to at check-in or at lounge or even at the gate. Assuming I didnt need particular FFP for upgrades then changing at check in is safest and has highest success rate (some failures :( ).
headinclouds, when you check-in with Iberia, make sure you have a look at the freq flyer number on your BP, as they have a (bad) habit of putting QA XXXXX, QS XXXXX, etc anything but QF!
