am sitting on 400K DM to use on a Star Alliance round-the-world planned for late 2005.

convert to a more stable currency...like some OneWorld carrier?

I don't think you have much of anything to be concerned about, other than finding seats available on your anticipated dates of travel. US portion of the RTW flight plan is minimal and can be offset totally by UA, so I'd book accordingly if your nervous.

Otherwise, let's keep hoping for a positive future for US!

Why not take yourself and 2 others for a great trip to HKG for some excellant holiday shopping in First Class comfort next month?

October weather there should be pretty good.

This would burn 360K of those miles.
