Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Waitlist

Does LH clear waitlist on an automated and instant basis - that is, say passenger A is on waitlist slot no. 1, and someone happens to cancel out, does passenger A get that seat confirmed automatically?

Say if there're 10 senators on the waitlist, will this then go by first come first serve or there's another arrangement within senators?

My experience with LH (paid class) waiting lists has always been excellent as a SEN, and is one of the few things I think makes SEN worth having. I do not recall ever not getting the flight I wanted within 72 hours of being on the waitlist, provided that I booked in H or D class, and that Y or C (respectively) were available; more often than not, they clear instantly - although this has certainly become less frequent recently. Q and V class are much more "hit or miss", and it seems that SENs are just like everyone ekse, but at the top of the list.

As for seat release: provided yield management hasn't zeroed out that particular class for yield (rather than it simply being sold out), the seat seems to go straight back into that inventory. I've had a number of W class tickets, which, after cancelling them, changed the Galileo output for the flight from WC to W1.

If your are a SEN (as your name suggests) you have the booking guarantee for Y and C (but not D etc anymore).

same with me, i was waitlisted several times in D (as my company of course wants to get a good deal) and did not succed. Full Fare C is no problem at all and SEN hotline of course keeps offering a C fare... for double the prize.

i am waitlisted for the next weekend fra - icn, but all flights seem to be completely full... good yields to asia for LH!
