Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Will moving affect my membership in MPC?

Hello all,
I am a mere Silver member in CX's Marco Polo Club and am moving to the UK next week. I understand that mileage redemption requirements and mileage requirements do not vary from country to country as they do in some programs (Miles & More, AF FP, etc) but is there any upside to leaving my US address on my account?
I will update my account with my new contact details so I can receive Club communications via post and have award tickets mailed to my UK address but are there any benefits I am overlooking of having a US address on my account? It seems like UK members have the potential to get more promotions, etc since CX heavily promotes AAdvantage and not AsiaMiles/MPC in the US.
Also, I will be flying to the states (LAX) from BHX several times a year and am wondering whether LX would be a good carrier to fly on so I can attempt to keep my status with CX. I understand that I can retain membership in the MPC and earn miles on both CX and LX flights. This would allow me to remain part of oneworld and has a lower mileage requirement than LX Silver, however if I could manage to fly 50k/year than it would be much easier to get top-tier status with LX than CX.
Thoughts?

LX is not part of OneWorld. You can earn AsiaMiles on LX, but you do not get MPC Status (Club Miles/Sectors) on LX.

How can you get Club Miles on LX??? I know you can earn ASIA MILES on LX but definitely not Status Miles on LX. Therefore if you choose LX then you will forgo your CX MPO.
Given the recent saga with LX and Oneworld, they are now pretty much as seperate as SQ and CX. (There are like only 1-2 codeshares to ZRH)

how'd you end up with MPC in the first place? I thought CX only offers AAdvantage in the States?
In any case, since you still go back to the US so often, AA might be a much better choice for you (or BAEC, depending on the type of fares you buy and transatlantic prefs)

I was automatically always enrolled as a Marco Polo Silver member when I acquired 30,000 flown Asia Miles.
I have always read that the program requires one to pay the membership fee and confirmed this with a representative at the service desk. She stated that certain Asia Miles members are enrolled in the Marco Polo program and sent Silver membership cards by invitation (as in my case) and was unable to provide any additional information, other than stating that there are no set criteria to receive an invitation.
I still have to meet the same requirements for renewal year after year - just like everyone else.

I know CX does that. But did you have a US mailing address at the time?
Given the restrictions on BA/AA earning miles on each other's trans-atlantic sectors, I'd stick with CX. That then leaves you ok to earn on either BA or AA metal, best to have wider options if BHX is going to be your base anyway.
I had UK address with CX for a few years, and it all went very smoothly. The redemption tickets are even couried over from HK. Best of all though, the MPC call centre is 24 hrs.. something BA doesn't offer.

GK: Am I reading right? BA does not have a 24 h call centre??? amazing. I would have thought an airline of that size ...

mhtaipei, yup, that's right. Given the night flights I have to take sometimes and the possibility of something going wrong (like having my luggage not appear at the carousel and finding no one in Lyon Airport to complain to at midnight), the lack of 24-hour support is all the more frustrating.
That's why I'm going to do the minimum to maintain elite status (just silver is OK: it allows me to skip the lines at economy check-in and gain access to a lounge) and then begin travelling as an MPC member with Asia Miles. :D
(Yes, I know, MPC membership would have counted for zip in Lyon, but I'm thinking of my action as one of protest. Plus, I'm anticipating more travels to Asia. :) )

it does if you qualify for 'special services' but that's all. cost cutting.

wow. in the past two years I have been contemplating myself to switch to baec, especially because gold card requ. are so low with a continental european mailing adress ... 1/2 of what I need for MPC Diamond with CX. but i guess you get what you pay (fly) for after all.
GK I am off to HKG for work next week ... i'll PM you.

Yes, I signed up my AsiaMiles account with a US address and have not changed it since.

Strange. I was under the impression they weren't even allowed to market to US citizens because of their agreement with AA. Obviously I was mistaken. I still think you should look at AA, some CX flyers here have pointed out the advantages of AA if you do at least some travel to the US and have a US address. A search might turn up more information, as might the aa.com website. AA sure gives more miles on lower fares than BAEC, and more miles in general.
