Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Impossible???

I am ticketed on CX SFO-HKG-SIN. The HKG-SIN leg is on CX 717 that departs HKG at 8:55 AM. I show that SQ 1 has an earlier departure out of HKG at 8:00 AM. Will it be possible to request at the CX desk in HKG to ex-change my CX 717 tickets to a SQ 1 ticket so that i can arrive in SIN a little earlier?...If so, what's the standard procedure/cost/etc? I am scheduled to attend a meeting in the late afternoon and I'd rather spend an hour on SIN ground than to spend that hour in an airport....crazy, huh...especially given the quality of lounges in HKG. :confused:

The short answer to your question is that it depends on your ticket booking class. If you have a full-fare, endorseable ticket, then I see no reason why you couldn't take the earlier flight.

The really curious thing is: why didn't you take SQ all the way??? SQ1 originates in SFO, so you could fly SQ directly from SFO to SIN without even having to change planes.

As both CX and SQ depart from SFO at around the same time, I would suggest getting your ticketing arrangements re-arranged when you are there (in SFO). You will not have enough time to do this in HKG. If it's an e-ticket, you would have to ask CX to print you a paper ticket and get the HKG-SIN segment endorsed over to SQ. Then you would need to go over to the SQ counter and get them to accept the ticket, and place authorisation on your ticket coupon.

Then you'd need to go back to CX to check-in, and they can't even give you the boarding pass for HKG-SIN sector, and you'd need to do that when you get to HKG.

But as wideman said, why not just fly SQ all the way from SFO as they both depart around the same time.. and you'd get into SIN faster.

Must be booked in F and wanting the superior CX F service SFO-HKG instead of the (rapidly slipping) SQ F service. The tables have certainly turned on SQ in the quality wars. They used to be number 1, by a large margin.

I'm not booked in F, rather, i'm booked in Business...i guess J or C or D...not exactly sure which code (I can't find it on the boarding pass). I purchased a paper ticket through my company's TA who negotiates favorable rates with Oneworld partners which is why I'm holding a CX ticket. @:-)

This is my first time flying CX so i'm looking forward to the opportunity. But as stated in my original post, I just want to get into SIN faster and not spend too much time at the airport. And if it's possible in anyway and there's little or no cost involved, i'd like to change the entire SFO-HKG-SIN to SQ (have always had very good flying experience with SQ in the past) I figured this would be tougher than simply exchanging the HKG-SIN portion of the entire itinerary. ^

Definitely not a life changing decision by any means...but thought I post this to get feedback from all of you "regulars"... :D

Negotiated corporate rates are discounted and not usually endorseable. There is a good reason why they are discounted. ;)

Do you have the paper ticket there?

What is the booking class?
What is the fare basis?
What does it say in the endorsement box?
Is there anything in the TOUR code box?

Chances are if you bought this through your company TA that has negotiations with oneworld, I'd think you are SOL in getting your ticket endorsed entirely over to SQ. But honestly, if you haven't flown CX before, take the time and maybe relax in the lounge in HKG before heading off to SIN. The extra two hours isn't going to break the bank... is it?

OP: Look at your ticket. Does it say NONEND anywhere (usually top left corner? If yes, forget it.

I know you are keen to get into SIN earlier, but since this is your first time on CX, I think those extra 55 minutes would be well spent in the Wing/Pier - maybe have a shower and change so that when you get into SIN you refreshed and ready to go. Catch up on email and maybe even get some work done. But then ofcourse you will be spoiled as far as lounges go - we wouldn't want to set you up for later disappointment when you see most other lounges ;)

Just a friendly suggestion - your priorities may vary.
