O2 announces two new xda devices
O2 has unveiled two new devices that aim to build on the success of the popular xda II handheld/mobile phone.
O2's new xda IIs will be available in the UK and Ireland on 1 November at a cost of around £449 (inc. VAT). Its standout feature is a slide-out 39-key QWERTY keyboard, which is designed to make it easier to use the on-board email, contact management, calendar and text messaging software...

There seems to be quite a rush to bodge various slide out and flip out keyboards onto current Palm form factor devices at the moment. It would be interesting to see how robust and usable some of these designs are. I have particular doubts about the SE P910 keyboard which doesn't look in the least bit ergonomic.
Is email and instant messaging driving us back towards Psion and Blackberry formatted devices and away from the Palm model (which was always designed to be a write rarely/read mostly device).

I think the hint is shown on the IIi, in which O2 is trying to get into the mobile e-mail market currently dominated by Blackberry.
First XDA then XDAII now XDAIII...I only make so much a year, guys, but I'll make it work... :D

Agreed!
Yes, I think it is. Yet Palm runs some nice stuff too! ;)
And yes, redbeard911, whatever we eventually do select and purchase, a greater, and also likely a cheaper alternative will be out the next week or so! :D
