Hertz FT
My first damage to a rental car. Was out sunday night/monday morning and on monday morning saw some damage to the rear right bumper. Its a decent dent and some scratches.
So I call up diners and get a claim number.
How is this handled at Hertz? Same checkout process, but I just give them the diners claim number? I'm just trying to figure out how much additional time to give myself at the airport. Usually, I just jump out get the receipt and am off to the gates.
Thanks
If you're admitting it happened while you had the vehicle, you'll have to fill out a Hertz vehicle accident report. You fill out your name/address, time and location of accident and there is space to provide a brief statement. Shouldn't take but a few minutes to fill out (since it's just your vehicle and it was parked and no witnesses or police report) but I couldn't guess as to how the return location will handle it. I would be cautious and say give yourself a good 30 minutes to deal with this.
Good luck to you

Diners Club was very good in handling a claim I had for a stolen rental car in Miami (a National Car Rental from Ft. Lauderdale).
I would always take photos and if the damage is substantial enough try to submit a police report. The police report was what Diners Clubs was more interested in than anything.
In my situation, Diners Club ended up paying $400 for new tires (the car was recovered same day). National was so stupid they didn't even submit to Diners Club for towing or storage fees or loss of use. National dragged its feet and the claim took 6 weeks to process.
It took me well over an hour to submit a report but of course that was National not Hertz.
Diners Club will also ask you to submit a full report on what happened.

In the UK accident report forms are in the vehicle so in the past I've just filled it out prior to returning the car and just leave it with them after they have checked it over.
