Rented a Lincoln at LAX, and the agent told me that this would get me a complimentary Hertz #1 Club Gold membership. She did advise that I'd have to sign up on the website.
However, the website doesn't seem to have a place to sign up for free-
Any suggestions?

Is it telling you there is a fee? I signed up long ago and it does ask for a CC but just because that is stored on file so you don't have to wait in line to get the paperwork done on each rental.

Contact Hertz customer service and they should take care of you. I signed up years ago when it was free and rent at least one Prestige a year so that either automatically updates it or the fact I am 5*/PC means they waive the fee.

IIRC, there is a place on the Gold agreement to enter the contract number for your prestige rental which will override the fee.

Called Hertz to take care of it. They gave me a special website for Prestige renters which did offer a fee waived membership.

Call Hertz. I'm sure they will be glad to give it to you if you qualify.

FWIW, my Gold has been automatically renewed every year for about a decade at no charge. (I don't rent Prestige, but I do log about a dozen rentals a year.) I signed my wife up for free this summer by clicking a link through either Webflyer or Frequentflier.com - I forget which. And I've heard other people simply call up Hertz and ask for Gold for free and get it.
My point isn't to discourage you from renting a Linc: it's just that you can get Gold many different ways for free. Try searching for that link first - that way you can do the whole thing online and have your membership number almost instantly.

I asked about the benefits of Gold at the counter at ISP a few months back and the agent handed me a "$50 Fee-Waived Coupon" from a stack she had behind the counter. At least at this location, all you have to do is ask.
